SAN JUAN BAUTISTA

San Juan Bautista is a very small city located in the state of California. With a population of 2,104 people and just one neighborhood, San Juan Bautista is the 630th largest community in California. Housing costs in San Juan Bautista are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don't compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in California.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Unlike some cities, San Juan Bautista isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in San Juan Bautista are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, San Juan Bautista is a city of sales and office workers, service providers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in San Juan Bautista who work in sales jobs (16.42%), management occupations (15.90%), and office and administrative support (8.94%).

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their homes: 10.67% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

A small, rural school of approximately 350 students, it was created in 1994 through a grassroots effort of parents and community members looking for more local control over a cutting-edge, college-prep secondary institution. Anzar has been affiliated with the Coalition of Essential Schools from the beginning, a reform-minded educational organization that encourages depth over breadth, a personal approach to students and teaching, and equity at all times. With the mandatory college-prep expectations, all graduates do indeed end up in college after graduation. Anzar is a full-inclusion school, with a high percentage of both ELL students and students qualifying for the free and reduced lunch program. Several Anzar programs are unique: a 4-year Advisory program, a 6-semester Service Learning graduation requirement, and the Graduation Exhibition program.
